We are honored to be part of America’s home of heroes to work with those who share our commitment to the Armed Forces. The Freedom Memorial Park steering committee and its members are proud to join forces with the City of Fayetteville, Cumberland County, state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, private citizens, and other partners in support of Veteran’s park, located next to Freedom Memorial Park. They are dedicated to building trails and playgrounds, recognizing and promoting local history, and introducing the next generation to stewardship opportunities and responsibilities.
Memorial Day is a most significant day for Americans as it is two fold. It calls our attention to all our great Americans who were called into action and gave their lives fighting in our country’s conflicts all over the globe, and it is also special for our departed family members who are still near and dear to us. It is a wonderful tribute to all of them to have designated a special day for us to come together to pay extraordinary recognition and remember heartfelt memories of these special people. There is a very special place for people to visit on Memorial Day in Fayetteville which stands tall in commemorating our military veterans. It is your Freedom Memorial Park located in downtown at 101 Bragg Boulevard. In the park stands center a tall obelisk with military service plaques identifying the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and the Coast Guard. In Freedom Memorial Park you will find unique memorial monuments recognizing combat losses of World War One, World War Two, Korean War, Vietnam War, Global War on Terrorism, and MIA-POW. New this year in time for Memorial Day is a meaningful Purple Heart Memorial Monument dedicated to our nation’s combat wounded. Flags and wreaths will be in place to recognize the importance of this day for our country’s heroes; our moms, dads, brothers, sisters, family and friends. “Call out our names and we shall live forever.” – Don Talbot
